It isn’t so common anymore for nations to be captivated by their explorers and conquistadors, waiting with bated breath to hear tales of far away places and taking to heart the pride of their pioneer mascots. Today exploration is mostly of space and the oceans, and is a scientific venture involving robots more often than people. It is far easier for the layman to rediscover with fresh eyes places human feet have already trod.
